Kapilvastu is one of Nepal's 77th districts, with a total area of 1,738 square kilometers (671 square miles), and it was formerly a kingdom of the Shakya dynasty. It is bounded to the east by the Rupandehi district, to the northeast by India, to the south by Dang, and to the northwest by Arghakhachi. As Gautam Buddhas used to be associated with this location, it has many historical significances. King Virudhaka, the son of Prasenajita Raja of Kosala, is said to have massacred the Sakyas in Sagarhawa in retaliation(revenge). This stupa was built in memory of the occasion when Queen Prajapati Gautami presented Lord Sakyamuni Buddha with the Kashaya Vastra and Yasodhara invited him and his Sangha to the Kapilavastu palace for a meal.

d)Nyigrodharama Lake

In honor of Lord Sakyamuni Buddha's impending arrival in Kapilavastu and stay at Nyigrodharama, the Sakyas have built a lotus pond.

Araurakot is known as the town where Kanakamuni Buddha lived, grew up, and married. In ancient times, it was a walled forest. It is now a large rectangular fortified area with an ancient moat and brick fortifications.

Nine archaeological sites, including Araurakot, have been found in this region by the joint archaeological team of Nepali and Italian archaeologists (1996–1997). At this location, ancient walls can still be seen. It resembles a large playground. Because this site contains ancient ruins, the Government of Nepal's Department of Archeology has purchased it for excavation. After researching this location, PC Mukherjee certified it as a place associated with Buddha under Kanakamuni.
